Hello and welcome to the podcast that looks at “life of a part-time musician”.

Most of these podcasts will be about the music. There will be plenty of it to listen to. I hope you like at least some of it but in the end, we just take a chance when we put any music out there. And being part-timers, when do people ever get the chance to hear our stuff. I just had to get this stuff out before I toddle off this mortal coil and trust that someone, somewhere, will like some of it.

Along the way there are stories of the part-time life to share: events, people, places and, often, minor insanity. I hope you will stay with me on this journey long enough to enjoy listening to many of those people I have met over the years.

I have always loved a wide range of genres, from rock and pop to folk and blues to dance music and rap, and have been lucky enough to collaborate with great musicians in all these styles. The music I have made with them will form the musical menu of these podcasts.

There are many musicians out there, of which I am one, who never made it to the point of being famous or even earning enough from their to make it their full-time occupation. I have seen and played with many singers, songwriters, drummers, bass players, and guitarists who were every bit as talented as people in the charts or for whom music was a full-time profession.

The opportunity to make music your profession are few and far between.. There are many reasons for this: not having connections with anyone already in the business; not being in the right place at the right time; not having encouragement from those around them to take the risk; having commitments that don't to allow them to dedicate the required time; or nowadays when anyone can release their music online themselves, finding it hard to be noticed and then streaming taking all the money out of the the recording business.
